Large gold-plated mirror, Sweden / Denmark around 1880

Imposing mirror, Sweden / Denmark, 19th century, carved wood, original state of preservation.

Carved and gilded linden tree.

Original state of preservation. Rich carving with birds, meanders and figural symbols. Height: 170 cm | Width: 108 cm.

An impressive product of sculpture - all stylistic elements from classicism, rococo and baroque are combined. Water-spouting chimeras, flower ornaments in which birds sit on both sides, wolves with fire-breathing garlands and symbolically the mystery of a wise Chinese in the end. A typical example of historicism mixing epochs. Mirror glass renewed.
